Researchers
Prof. Arief Budiman, MS, D.Eng (Coordinator)
He is professor of engineering, founder and coordinator of Process System Engineering Research Group, Chemical Engineering Department, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia. His research interests is natural resources-industrial system engineering (a new developed intercross subject of utilization of natural resources and process system engineering) especially innovation technology for minimizing its energy supplied and maximizing energy recovery. His recent outstanding research is Development of eco-efficient green diesel (integrated first-second generation of biodiesel with zero emission, zero waste and energy efficient) and Development of Indonesia’s turpentine into its valuable derivatives. His expertise has brought him to received award as the best researcher 2009 from his university.
He graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in 1997. He received his D.Eng. degree in thermodynamic analysis of distillation column. In 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005, 2009, 2010 he was research fellow to deep and sharp his expertise in energy-efficient distillation system at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. He has joined the Chemical Engineering Department, Gadjah Mada University since 1985. He is also a member of an international professional engineering institution, IChemE (Institution of Chemical Engineers).
He has published numerous articles more than 45 publications in sciencetific journals and conferences. He is also personal investigator several research projects funded by Indonesian Government such as Insentif Ristek, Riset Andalan Perguruan Tinggi-Industri-RAPID, etc. He has more than 15 years of experience both public and in-house courses to the industries.
Prof. Rochmadi, Ph. D (Researcher member)
He received his PhD degree from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, in 1991. His dissertation is concerned with mpdeling of transient two-phase flow of cryogenic fluids. The area of research he has been conducting is polymer engineering, modeling and simulation, as well as process design. Numerous papers in modeling have been published in various national and international conferences as well as in journal. He was deeply involved in several joint-cooperation projects between industry and university, such as: Basic Design Urea Dust Recovery System Prilling Tower PT Pupuk Kaltim, Development of waste water treatment system of PT PUSRI Palembang, Study of ammonia loading and unloading system (including simulation of boil off gas), Development of Matindok Gas Project, Feasibility Study of Biodiesel and Bioethanol Industry in Indonesia. He has served as instructor in operator and engineer’s training in industry, such as Loading and unloading operation of ammonia storage system, Risk analysis and failure of chemical plant operations, Performance analysis and optimization of chemical plant, etc.
