Final Assignment Title:
Used Oil Reclamation Plant Design using Interline Process
Research Outline:
Reclaiming used oil can be carried out continuously by Interline Process technology. Interline process itself involved supercritical extraction using a solvent, before used oil further processed by vacuum distillation. Propane generally used as solvent in Interline Process. In Extraction process, solvent is used to eliminate lubricating oil additives and separating used oil into asphaltic components, suspended solids, and oil containing solvent. Asphaltic components and suspended solid are the residue produced from extraction process, while oil containing solvent further processed by oil-solvent separation process to separate base oil and solvent. Solvent from oil-solvent separation process can be used again (recycle) in extraction by using a solvent treatment. Base oil from separation process then processed by atmospheric distillation and vacuum distillation to separate lighter hydrocarbon fraction, lubricating oil product, and residue.
The main advantage from Interline Process is equipments used in this process are not easily corroded because it does not use acid treatment, and hydrotreatment process not used necessary because lubricating oil quality produced from this process is quite good enough. Main disadvantages form Interline process is lubricating oil quality is not better than hydrotreating process.
